Five kilometres toward Sapporo from Jozankei Onsen, you will find three hot spring inns between Route 230 and the Toyohira River. This old-established Onsen was opened early in the Meiji period and has flourished as a hot spring resort. Though the temperature at the source of the hot spring is low and the water is recirculated and filtered, this simple sulphur spring has won the hearts of the real Onsen fans. The icon of this Onsen is an old Katsura tree that is estimated to be over 700 years old.
