Hokkaido is the rice-producing capital of Japan. Hokkaido’s coolness and low humidity is the ideal environment to produce flavoursome and glutinous rice. Hokkaido celebrates the fact that it was the first place in Japan to plant and produce rice. ‘Kirara 397’, ‘Hoshinoyume’ and ‘Nanatsuboshi’ rice brands were classed as ‘grade A’ in the latest goods-tasting ranking by the Japan Grain Inspection Association, sharing the honour with ‘Koshihikari” and other leading Japanese brands.
