Flowers creating the ambience of the Northern summer, ‘Flower of the Sun’
This plant represents summer and it has several species, some have one flower on one stem and some branch off the stem with flower. Hokkaido’s most famous sunflower display with 1.3 million sunflowers is in Hokuryu Town, where the magnificent hilly country is completely covered with sunflowers. The ‘Hokuryu Town Sunflower Festival’ is held from mid-July to mid-August and is crowded with over 200,000 visitors every year.
