10,000 cherry trees, an explosion of cherry blossoms at Matsumae Park
Satozakura is a generic name for the floricultural sakura which are produced by a combination of both artificial and natural methods resulting in big improvements and transformation of the trees. The simple wild sakura is called ‘yamazakura.’ The 10,000 satuzakura in Matsumae Park and Matsumae Town are then most famous in Hokkaido, and are a must-visit location. The oldest tree is estimated to be 280 years old.
