Kuri (chestnut), a well-known taste of autumn in Japan, has pale yellow flowers blooming from June to July, and the tree starts to produce nuts in September. The Japanese chestnut grows in the forest area, among the trees in the shaded flatland and also among trees on hilly land. This tree has been grown in Japan from old times and is known as the ‘People’s most favourite nut producing tree.’
