Pink flower bed stretching as far as the eye can see in early spring
The katakuri grows in the sunny woods and has pale purple and pink flowers which start to droop in May. It has two layers of three petals that curl up when it blooms. The Otokoyama Shizen Koen (Natural Park) in Asahikawa City, one of the largest areas of katakuri, has a pink flower bed stretching far off into the distance. You can see similar katakuri beds at Sakuragaoka Park in Niseko Town, the Mikasa-yama Nature Park at Wassamu Town and many other places in Hokkaido.
