A romantic retro landscape of red brick buildings and gas lamps
Originally completed in 1923, the south side was prepared in time with the opening of the Otaru harbor railroad in 1986, which was transformed into a walking area that is now enjoyed by both locals and tourists. At night the gas lamps are lit, lighting up the red brick buildings and bringing forth a retro romantic atmosphere. Approach Temiya on the north waterway and it returns to its appearance of old, exuding an atmosphere of silence and emotion.
