Enjoy a spectacular view of the surroundings of Lake Toya
This ropeway service is available at Mt. Usu, one of Japan's few active volcanoes, that has erupted four times in the past century. The ride is 6 minutes long from the bottom to the summit of the mountain. At the summit of the 732-meter high Ohusu with its rocky surface, the Lake Toya Observation Deck offers a view of Lake Toya and Mt. Showa Shinzan, and the Usu Crater Basin Observation Deck stands in front of the largest crater. There also is a 1.1-kilometer trail, called “Usu South Rim Trail” that leads to the craters, where you can enjoy spectacular trekking.
