Lake Shokan is a manmade lake, created by the damming of a river in order to supply farmlands with water. Only in the period after the water release ceremony in the end of April through the water stoppage ceremony in the beginning of September can this be seen. From June you can enjoy the lovely sight of the blooming flowers and fresh green of the Larch trees and Japanese white birch reflected in the water.
