A beautiful hilly wetlands area abloom with alpine flora
Extending across 4 kilometers east to west and 2 kilometers north to south on a plateau at a height of 850 meters, the Uryu Swamp was recognized on November 8th, 2005, as the world's first mountainous wetlands area by the Ramsar Convention. More than 100 alpine ponds dot the landscape of the swamp, and from June to September a succession of alpine plants flourish on their sides. You can take delightful strolls through the wetlands on the manmade boardwalks.
