A long-established sake brewery in Otaru that welcomes visitors anytime
Founded in 1899, this old establishment brews sake in a stone warehouse that has an atmosphere reminiscent of the good old days of Otaru. The stone warehouse, built in 1905, is an historical building designated by the city. While always taking advantage of new technologies, Tanaka Shuzo keeps the tradition of the Otaru refined sake “Takaragawa.” The brewing process is open to the public throughout the year and sake tasting is available. Schedules for the sale of the freshly brewed “Funakuchi Sake” vary depending on fermentation conditions. Please check the brewery’s website for brewing schedules.
