An out of the way location steeped in the natural beauty of cliffs and strange rocks
Designated as the Niseko Shakotan Otaru Coastal Park. From the cliff side nature trail that extends to the Otamoi Jizo statues, you can enjoy the magnificent scenery of mysterious rocks such as the Mado (Window) Boulder. In the beginning of the Showa era a large amusement park called the "Otamoi Dreamland Park" was erected here, but was later destroyed by fire in the war. To this day, only the foundation stone of the famous Japanese Inn, the Ryugukaku, remains. This area is known as an out-of-the-way spot to watch the evening sun sink into the Sea of Japan.
