Indigo and swords, a roadside station steeped in history and culture

Date, the only area in Hokkaido where Indigo is produced and where sword smiths live and work. This roadside station is filled with this history and culture. You can take part in Indigo dyeing lessons in the Indigo workshop, visit the Reimei-Kan that contains a sword smith’s workshop and tourist information center, or take a look around the literature museum of famous author Miyao Tomiko. This roadside station doubles as the base for communicating the appeal and excitement of Date’s history and culture.
