Hokkaido's southernmost spot, the cape closest to Honshu
Hokkaido's southernmost point. Located on the edge of the Matsumae peninsula, facing both the Sea of Japan and the Tsugaru Straits, lies the point closest to Honshu. Separated by 19.2 kilometers at its closest point, in fair weather this is a great location to view the Tappi point across the straits. In the local park, there is a marker at north latitude 41 and east longitude 140, ideal for a commemorative photo.
