Popular for its panoramic views of Shuho and Mt. Yotei, and for its “age-imo” snacks
This roadside station is located on Route 230, at approximately the halfway point between Sapporo and Lake Toya. As it is located at the summit of the busy Nakayama Pass, the roadside station commands fantastic views of Shuho and Mt. Yotei. The roadside station is famous for the “age-imo” potato snacks, made popular partly because of the flavour, and partly through the performance involved in making them. “Age-imo” has become so popular here that many tourists make a point of stopping here just to buy some. The upper floor of the main building has a large open area for relaxing in, which when combined with a piping hot serving of “age-imo” makes this roadside station a very popular rest area.
