Summer in Asahiyama Zoo is filled with featured attractions! Forest of Wolves: A new attraction that must not be missed

Asahiyama Zoo in Asahikawa City, the one attraction that has captured the attention of the nation! Summer attractions starts on 26th April. Born in March, the harbor seal baby, ‘Mame’, is thriving in the Zoo’s care and her round, cute eyes will capture your heart. You can catch her swimming in the pool so don’t forget to visit her. You can also get to see many animals that cannot be viewed during the winter seasons. Weak against the cold seasons, the world largest rodent, Capybara, will present you with their agile strokes in the water. Admire the spectacular Indian Peafowl at the Pheasant enclosure. Don’t forget to catch the beautiful male peafowls during the mating season from May to July, as this is the only time to see them in their feathery glory. In addition, watching the ducklings swim in a row in the Aviary filled with swans and ducks is highly-recommended. During the summer opening season, get to check out the powerful performance of flying trapeze by the orangutans. Their holding area has a ropeway hanging from a height of 16m.

The construction of the large scale facility, ‘Forest of Wolves’, will be completed on 28th June, Sunday. In addition to the viewing platform that brings you to close proximity with the animals, there is a small hill in the holding area where you just might get to see a wolf howling on top of it. Expect to see large prowling wolves, infusing the air with their magnificence. The ‘Summer Version’ of Asahiyama Zoo has so many features that one day is simply not enough. Enjoy the close contact with the animals of the zoo.
